New Single : Carson County — out Now!
Bent River Records is delighted to release our second single, "CarsonCounty," from the multi-talented singer-songwriter and guitarist Mike Doussan. Hailing from New Orleans and part of the new Louisiana supergroup DGB (Doussan Garrett Benoit). Mike infuses his rich cultural roots into his music, blending funk, blues, and Americana to craft raw, heartfelt stories that resonate deeply.
With "Carson County," Mike showcases his ability to create atmospheric soundscapes through moving vocals, captivating guitar work, and masterful arrangements. The track features a stellar ensemble, including Mike on guitars and lead vocals, Rurik Nunan's evocative fiddle, Jermal Watson's steady, powerful drumming, and David Pomerleau's melodic, rumbling basslines.
"Carson County" is not a specific place but a mystical destination we all long to find. The song's inspiration came to Mike on July 3, 2020, during a summer tour with his wife and youngest son. They camped in the Pacific Northwest, just north of the Columbia River in Washington. Sitting by the fire, surrounded by towering evergreens and the forest's solitude, Mike felt immense gratitude and awe. That night, the song began to take shape.
Reflecting on the creative process, Mike says, "This was one of those songs that wrote itself. I may have held the pen and guitar, but it felt like the song was a spirit waiting to be born—I was just the vessel."
"Carson County" invites listeners on a journey to a place of wonder, peace, and connection, leaving an indelible mark on the heart and soul.
